It's a family thing!
The Revere Project was born from a simple question: "Mama what does that say on your necklace?" It was the Shema: "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." Many nights in a row she wanted to know what it said . So one day I put it to song. Not just that verse, but the 5 verses after it also. Directly worded, like reciting the passage plainly, but through a song it was remembered much easier.
It worked so well for all of us, 3, 5, 7, 32 & 33 year olds. For the first time since childhood I could finally memorize a passage! Memorization didn't come easy for me as an adult, but suddenly, it did. I made more songs for us all to learn more scripture.
This led to teaching scripture memory in our homeschool group. Eventually a friend suggested I create a way to teach anyone who wanted to learn this way.
Enter: The Revere Project. A musical method; not simply scripture songs. It is difficult to learn 5-20 verses directly with simply singing the full song over and over, so we break the passages down into 2-3 verse parts and focus on one part each week via melody, slowly putting the pieces of the passage together into a single song. It's a little baffling how well it hides the Word in our hearts.
We don't know what we don't know until we know it, right? Well, I didn't fully understand the blessing of having scripture written on my family's hearts until we started doing it. Now that we have memorized a decent amount of scripture I realize what we were missing! I desire much more scripture to be safe guarded inside us, and for other families to attain this incredible blessing!
Scripture is the inspired word of the Creator of everything! His Word has power and brings peace to our souls. Yeshua/Jesus IS the Word made flesh. So learning the Word is learning more about our Savior. The Word is the weapon of the Holy Spirit, who knows exactly what to call to our remembrance in the perfect timing. All scripture is God-breathed, useful for teaching, reproof and correction and training in righteousness (and encouragement)!
The Revere Project's mission is to come alongside families who want to hide God's Word in their hearts - giving them a cohesive, multi-faceted program that uses tried and true memorization methods for long term retention - and do it in a way that enhances joy!
At some point we would love to translate these songs into other languages, making it available to families around the world. While this could easily be done with Al, we purpose and choose to create our content using only human skills & gifting. Someday we will collaborate with singers from different countries to accomplish this goal.
We also desire to connect with missions around the world that minister to orphaned and/or trafficked children and give our program to them as a bible-based resource to share with those in their care (please reach out if you know a ministry that could benefit)!
In the near term, we will continue coming out with new topical series, helping fill up families with His Truth, and expand awareness of the powerful discipline of bible memorization that our society has left by the wayside.
Remember, His Word will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55), so let us send it out with our voices and watch Him cause fruit to spring forth in our families and life!
